Collars & Leads

PROMENADE LEAD

£165.00

Description

A traditional ‘training lead’ design but in highly untraditional multicoloured Italian Elbermatt leather.  Two brass quick release scissor hooks and three strong D rings offer flexible lead lengths and handle depths.  A hand-stitched all-natural product with high strength cotton thread, highly moisturised leather and solid brass fittings.

The Promenade is made up of strips of each of the leathers used in the Estate and Mews collars, so will match beautifully with whichever coloured collar you have gone for.

As with the Rex and Mews leads, the Promenade can be looped securely over your head when your dog is off lead, leaving your hands free for other things...

For information on sizing, read our guide.

Optional extras (let’s call them accessories) include a matching leather tassle, leather poo bag, Acme whistle and (for those dogs who have stayed here at the House of Mutt) a branded leather name tag. Please contact us for details.

Provenance

Hand-made, hand-cut and hand-stitched by artisans in Walsall, England, the centre of the English Saddlery Quarter. Formerly accustomed to making ‘stirrup leathers in brown’, these makers have embraced the opportunity to work with our most luxurious soft Italian leather and the varying colour palates that are now coming their way.

For those who appreciate detail, the leather comes from the half-butts of Scandinavian cows farmed with High Welfare Standards.  They were happy cows.  The leather was tanned using vegetable extracts, primarily Mimosa, Quebacho and Chestnut Bark.  The dye is organic and deeply ingrained within the leather so it has not had to be synthetically 'sealed'. The leather is conditioned using a combination of vegetable and animal fats, the recipe for which is a closely guarded secret which has been passed down through 3 generations.  We would have to buy the tannery to find out.  We can't do that ... but we live in hope!

The solid brass buckles and brass enamelled Rex badges are also made in Walsall, Birmingham in Abbey England’s own foundry.
